Breaking Dawn Convention in Burbank

Creation Entertainment's last Twilight Saga convention that they're calling "The Final Journey" is taking place this weekend at the Burbank Airport Marriott Hotel. I [Deb] have been to several Twilight conventions in the past but unfortunately I won't be attending this one. Patty however, will be there to represent SoCal TFMU on Saturday! It's her first time at any kind of convention and I was glad to hear that she'll be attending. Follow her adventures on twitter: @SoCalTFMU

If you've never been to a Twilight convention, I highly suggest that you go this weekend. There is a lot of great energy in the ballroom. I've met some pretty great people at the cons and there is usually a lot of merchandise that's more than just what Hot Topic normally sells. I really enjoy watching the costume competitions because people get so creative! The kids dressing up are just so darn cute too.

They are no longer selling tickets online but (I'm assuming) you can buy them at the door.

If you are planning on going and have never gone before, here are some tips:

  • bring a sweater or jacket; it can get pretty chilly inside those ballrooms
  • bring a cup of coffee with you
  • bring snacks with you; the day might seem to drag because between panels is some down time where they show behind the scenes footage or b-rolls.
  • know what your having for lunch or bring it with you. I'm not sure what's around there so bring a sandwich and some trail mix or something.
  • bring cash; there might be some merchandise that you just can't say no to. Be prepared!
  • Hotels will offer complimentary wi-fi so you'll probably see laptops and tablets being used.
  • bring your phone charger. The inside of the ballroom is generally a bomb shelter and you probably won't get a signal. Your phone searching for service, tweeting all day, and taking pictures with your phone is going to drain your battery.
  • If you're planning on buying an autograph, bring something for them to sign or else you'll probably want to pick up a $5 official convention picture from the vendors room
  • bring a notepad and a pen! Chances are you are going to run into Twilight Fan Fiction fans just like Patty! Exchange info and spread the good work about SoCal TFMU!

That's pretty much it! I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend at the convention!
~ Deb
